Our mission is Creating a future where every nurse has the knowledge, tools and support to protect their wellbeing throughout their career.

The Regulated Nurse was created for nurses, and we believe the best way to support our profession is by listening to the people who know it best: you.

We'd love your input.

Nurses Wellbeing Survey

Why The Regulated Nurse Exists

Healthcare has never been more demanding.

Every shift asks nurses to care for patients experiencing fear, pain, grief and uncertainty while often placing their own wellbeing last.

Over time, that constant giving can quietly become chronic stress.

Not because nurses aren't resilient.

But because no nervous system is designed to stay in survival mode forever.

The Regulated Nurse was created to change the conversation.

Rather than waiting until burnout occurs, our focus is helping nurses recognise stress early and develop practical skills to regulate their nervous systems before exhaustion becomes overwhelming.

This isn't about asking nurses to become stronger.

It's about giving them permission to care for themselves with the same compassion they offer everyone else.

Our mission is simple:

Supporting the people who care for everyone else.

Hi, I'm Sue-Ellen

For more than thirty years, as a nurse:

  • I've cared for thousands of patients.

  • I've worked through many demanding hospital shifts

  • Held the hands of those taking their final breaths and consoled the family they left behind

  • Celebrated new lives and remarkable recoveries

  • All in all I experienced the true privilege that nursing brings.

I've also carried something many nurses quietly carry: the stress, the exhaustion, the mental load that follows you home. Lying awake replaying a difficult conversation. Feeling responsible for everyone. Giving from a well that's running dry.

Eventually I realised something important, we spend our careers assessing everyone else yet rarely stop to assess ourselves.

That realisation led me to meditation, mindfulness, nervous system regulation, sound healing, and evidence-informed wellbeing practices. What began as a way to cope became a completely different way of living.

Today, I combine my clinical nursing background with these practical approaches to help nurses reconnect with themselves before stress becomes burnout, because every nurse deserves the same compassion they give their patients.

Welcome. I'm so glad you're here.

Why Workforce Wellbeing Begins Long Before Burnout By Sue-Ellen Johnson RN

The future of workforce wellbeing will not be defined by how effectively organisations respond to burnout. It will be defined by how effectively they prevent it.

Why Nurses Need Care Too

We witness suffering. We absorb stress. We hold space for others. Often without realising how much of that weight we carry home.

Nurse

The entire atmosphere enveloped me with sound & senses, I could feel my body start to release all the tension it had been holding in for so long, it reacted to the bowls as they sang to me and started the healing of my brokenness. I woke up this morning feeling renewed, strengthened and energized. A better version than yesterday. Thank you for providing this amazing space Sue, see you soon
